Nevada Revised Statute 618.375(1): Duties of employers. Every employer shall furnish employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his or her employees. At Diablos Cantina in the kitchen at the wood/charcoal fired grill. Screws were missing from the shelf above the wood/charcoal grill where pots and pans are stored. The grill is kept hot throughout the shift and heats the pots and pans on the shelf over it. The shelf had signs of previous failure at the time of inspection. The shelf falling could cause employees to be struck by hot pots and pans. Being struck by pots, pans, and the shelf could result in serious injuries to employees from being struck by the falling items as well as burns. Among other feasible and useful methods, putting screws back in the appropriate holes would prevent the shelf from falling.
