Condition:Employees were exposed to serious eye injury in that the
employer provided a 16
ounce squeeze bottle of eye wash solution where an employee used a
mechanical mixer
to mix Roman Concrete Mix containing Portland Cement, a corrosive material.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement would
be to provide suitable facilities
for quick drenching of the eyes that maintains 15 minutes of continuous
flow in accordance with American
National Standards Institute (ANSI) Z358.1-2009 "Emergency Eye Wash and
Shower Equipment."
Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs,
training certification, etc.)
is required for this item.
