North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being crushed by a vehicle: a)scrap yard, the job-made vehicle support racks used in day-to-day operations to hold vehicles while employees worked underneath to remove catalytic converters and exhausts, and drain fluids was not designed, fabricated, tested and inspected in accordance with good engineering practices. One feasible and acceptable method of abatement is to follow the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Safety Standard for Portable Automotive Lifting Devices (PALDs) - 2009.
