Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not
furnish employment and a place of
employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or
likely to cause death or serious
physical harm to employees:
(a)Date of Violation:12/12/13
Location:Southwest Wall of Warehouse
Condition:An employee operating a Genie Scissor Lift, model #GS-3232,
while pressure washing
walls inside of an 800,000 square foot warehouse was not trained in the
operation of
the lift when dealing with uneven terrain while operating a pressure
washer.
Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct
this hazard would be to follow
the manufacturer's requirements, as stated in the Operators Manual and
also in ANSIA92.6[-]1999
6.11(1)(2)(3) on page 22, which states under operator training that
whenever an owner directs or authorizes an
employee to operate an aerial platform the owner shall assume the
responsiblities of the user and shall ensure
that the person has been trained, familiarized with the aerial platform to
be operated and made aware of the
responsibilities of operators.
Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs,
training certification, etc.)
is required for this item.
