11.5.1 NMAC Section 50-9-5(A), NMSA 1978 (New Mexico Occupational Health and Safety Act): Every employer shall furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees: Employees working with or around the nitrogen cylinder are exposed to the hazard of being struck by a vave or the cylinder contents should the cylinder valve be damaged or removed by an unforeseen object due to the valve being unprotected by a cylinder cap. Therefore, employees are working in an environment that is not free of recognized hazards as required in accordance with paragraph 3.3.2 of the CGA Pamphlet P1 1965 which states that cylinder caps shall be kept on containers at all times except when containers are connected to dispensing equipment. One feasible and aceptale abatement method includes but is not limited t the employer ensuring employees are trained on the safety of te use of compressed gases and enforces industry standards by referring to the Compress Gas Association Safety Standards. 11.5.1 NMAC Section 50-9-5(A), NMSA 1978 (New Mexico Occupational Health and Safety Act): Every employer shall furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees: Employees working with or around the Nitrogen cylinders are exposed to the hazard of unrestrained compressed gas cylinders being knocked over and striking them. Therefore, employees are working in an environment that is not free of recognized hazards as required in accordance with paragraph 3.5.8 of the CGA Pamphlet P1 1965 which states that containers shall be secured to prevent them from being knocked over. One feasible and acceptable abatement method includes but is not limited to putting the cylinders on a cart that is approved for compressed gas cylinders where they can be secured with a chain or strap to prevent them from being knocked over.
