29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1):     Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with paragraph (b) sloping and benching systems, or paragraph (c) support systems, shield systems, and other protective systems:    Employees were working in an excavation at a depth up to 5.6 feet preparing the sub grade, cutting tree roots, and pushing the existing pvc sewer line under the sidewalk, and the excavation was not sloped, shored, or braced in accordance with the standard.     Abatement certification is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(c).

Abatement certification is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(c).

The excavation was not inspected by a competent person before the employees were allowed to enter the working area and the excavation.    Abatement certification is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(c).
