29 CFR 1926.453(b)(2)(v): A body belt shall be worn and a lanyard attached to the boom or basket when working from an aerial lift. Note to paragraph (b)(2)(v): As of January 1, 1998, subpart M of this part (1926.502(d)) provides that body belts are not acceptable as part of a personal fall arrest system. The use of a body belt in a tethering system or in a restraint system is acceptable and is regulated under1926.502(e): On or about June 3, 2011, at a jobsite located at 120 Orland Park Place, Orland Park, Illinois - an employee performing dryvit work from a Genie S-60 aerial lift did not have a lanyard attached to the boom or the basket, thereby exposing the employee to fall hazards of approximately thirty five (35) feet. The Continental Wall Systems Group, Inc. was previously cited for a violation for this Occupational Safety and Health Standard or its equivalent Standard, 29 CFR 1926.453(b)(2)(v), which was contained in OSHA Inspection Number 312591464, Citation Number 1 Item Number 1 and was affirmed as final order on March 17, 2009 with respect to the workplace located at 3961 W. Madison Avenue, Chicago, IL 60624.
