29 CFR 1910.23(c)(1): Open-sided floors and/or platforms four feet or more above adjacent floor or ground level were not guarded with standard railings (or equivalent) and toeboards: Note: Toeboards are only required when persons can pass, there is moving equipment or there is equipment with which falling materials could create a hazard. On August 23, 2011 at a worksite located at 739 Roosevelt Road Building #8, Glen Ellyn IL. An employee was working on a commercial roof performing maintenance on an HVAC unit. The employee was standing on the edge of the building directing a crane with no means of fall protection. The employee was exposed to a fall hazard over 25 feet. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
