29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with paragraph (b) or (c) of this section. Instance 1. On August 25, 2011 employees were exposed to the hazards associated with a cave-in while working in an unprotected trench at a depth of 5.9 feet. Instance 2. On August 25, 2011 employees were exposed to the hazards associated with a cave-in while working in an unprotected trench at depths between 6.2 and 7.2 feet deep. Abatement documentation is required of this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.
