29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a) Large Maxon sheeter #4 had the guard microswitch altered so the machine could be run with the guard open. b) Maxon sheeter #4 transfer belts had in-running nip points as close as 5" to the frame of the machine. c) Maxon sheeter #4 had open access to transfer belts at the floor level from an opening approximately 70" by 84". d) Maxon #1 had an exposed in-running nip roll approximately 14" from the frame of the machine. e) Maxon #1 had exposed in-running nip points on transfer belts approximately 14" from the frame of the machine. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION AND ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED.
