(a) Jobsite: On August 23, 2011 employees were observed engaged in roofing activities on a 7 in 12 pitch roof with 8 in 12 pitch gables without utilizing any means of fall protection system. Note: Abatement certification IS NOT required for this item.

29 CFR 1926.503(a)(2)(iii): The employer did not assure that each employee has been trained, as necessary, by a competent person in the use and operation of guardrail systems, safety net systems, warning line systems, safety monitoring systems, controlled access zones, and other protection to be used: (a) Jobsite: On August 23, 2011 and times prior thereto, employees and the responsible person on site, did not acknowledge the fall hazards when performing roofing activities and take the appropriate actions to eliminate or minimize these hazards. Note 1) Effective September 16, 2011 conventional methods for fall protection, per 29 CFR 1926.501(b)(13) shall be used. The alternative methods for fall protection in residential construction as described in STD 03-00-001 will no longer be acceptable. Note 2) Abatement certification IS required for this item.
