29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operatorand other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks.. a. At the #2 conveyor, employees were exposed to an ingoing nip point hazard at the end of the conveyor due to a lack of guarding where the belt rides over the roller.

29 CFR 1910.215(b)(5): The maximum angular exposure of the grinding wheelperiphery and sides for safety guards used on cutting-off machines and on surface grinding machines which employ the wheel periphery shall not exceed150 deg. This exposure shall begin at a point not less than 15 deg. below the horizontal plane of the wheel spindle. (See Figures O-12 andO-13): a. In the Knife grinding room, there was an Aluminum surface grinder in use by employees for sharpening knives that had its periphery guard broken on top.
