29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices,electronic safety devices, etc. Machines at the worksite were not guarded in the following instances: a) The Nebel manual lathe was not guarded over the 400 rpm rotating projecting jaws of the chuck. b) The Nebel manual lathe was not guarded at the 400 rpm rotating mold locater being sanded by hand. c) The movement of the carriage of the gantry of the Versabot machine was not guarded at lower levels around the machine and at the upper level in the back of the machine where the carriage accesses the CNC machine.
