Employers shall select and require employees to use appropriate hand protectionwhen employees' hands are exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasions;punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes.    Production area - On or about September 27, 2011, an employee was allowed to operate a vertical Roll band saw without the proper hand protection. The employer did not select the appropriate hand protection in the form of cut resistant gloves relative to the tasks being performed. The employee wore cloth gloves while cutting/trimming plastic molding. The employee was exposed to the hazards associated with rotating saw blades.
