29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface (horizontal and vertical surface) with an unprotected side or edge which is 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level shall be protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems: An employee who was accessing a bridge deck to inspect rebar for specifications was exposed to a fall hazard up to 35 feet and the employee was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. MIDWEST BRIDGE AND CRANE, INC WAS PREVIOUSLY CITED FOR A VIOLATION OF THIS OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARD OR ITS EQUIVALENT STANDARD: 29 CFR 1926.501(B)(1) WHICH WAS CONTAINED IN OSHA INSPECTION NUMBER 312887797, CITATION NUMBER 1, ITEM NUMBER 1A AND WAS AFFIRMED AS A FINAL ORDER ON 08/25/2009 WITH RESPECT TO A WORKPLACE LOCATED AT IL 116 2 MILES WEST OF FARMINGTON IL, 61531.
