29 CFR 1910.134(g)(1)(i)(A): The employer permitted respirators with tight-fitting facepieces to be worn by employees who had facial hair that came between the sealing surfaces of the facepiece and the face or that interfered with valve function; a.) Harsco Infrastructure of America located at 3477 Harding Hwy East, Marion, OH 43302; On or about November 15, 2011, the employer did not ensure that employees wearing tight-fitting face piece respirators were clean shaven. An employee with several days beard growth, which interfered with the face-to-respirator seal, was permitted to wear a respirator while working in the shakeout area removing castings from sand molds. The employee was at risk of respiratory injuries from airborne dust and silica.
