29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips andsparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc.: a. In the mixing area, the shaft for the Lightnin mixer (model: N33 AG; S/N: 80-920715) on the 225 gallon tank was not guarded. b. In the mixing area, the shaft for the Lightnin mixer (model: N33 AR-33; S/N: 80-920714) on the 200 gallon tank was not guarded. c. In the mixing area, the shaft for the Lightnin mixer on the 25 gallon tank was not guarded.
