29 CFR 1910.1052(h)(1): Where needed to prevent methylene chloride induced skin or eye irritation, the employer did not provide clean protective clothing and equipment resistant to methylene chloride, at no cost to the employee, and/or did not ensure that each affected employee used it: a. On or about December 15, 2011, and at times prior, employees utilzing compressed air to spray adhesive, containing methylene chloride, were not provided with/or did not use protective clothing or gloves, which would minimize the potential for skin contact with the adhesive. Employees exposed to methylene chloride are at increased risk of developing cancer, adverse effects on the heart, central nervous system and liver, and skin or eye irritation. Exposure may occur through inhalation, by absorption through the skin, or through contact with the skin. Abatement Note: Abatement certification is required for this item.
