29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation shall be protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with paragraph (b) or (c) of this section except when: a. On or about January 5, 2012 - at the above addressed jobsite, an employee was performimg a pipe connection inside a trench measured at seven (7') feet in depth. The trench was not provided with an adequate protective system, thereby exposing the employee to the hazard associated with cave-ins.
