29 CFR 1910.215(a)(4): Work rests on grinding machinery were not adjusted closely to the wheel with a maximum opening of one-eighth inch: a) Worksite, conventional area: A Pedestal grinder was not provided with a work rest on both sides; on or about 1/17/12. b) Worksite, tool area: Work rest on the left side of the BALDOR grinder was not adjusted closely to the wheel. The distance between the wheel and the work rest measured approximately 1 1/4 inches; on or about 1/17/12. Note: The employer is required to submit abatement certification for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19.

29 CFR 1910.215 (b)(9): The distance between the abrasive wheel periphery(s) and the adjustable tongue or the end of the safety guard peripheral member at the top exceeded one fourth inch: a) Worksite, conventional area: Employees use pedestal grinder on a daily basis. The opening between the wheel and the adjustable tongue measured approximately 2 inches on the left side; on or about 1/17/12. b) Worksite, tool area: Employees use BALDOR grinder on a daily basis. The adjustable tongue was missing on the left side of the grinder; on or about 1/17/12. Note: The employer is required to submit abatement certification for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19.
