29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1): The employer shall assess the workplace to determine if hazards are present, or are likely to be present, which necessitate the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). If such hazards are present, or likely to be present, the employer shall:    a. On or about January 23, 2012, in the Food and Nutrition area, the personal protective equipment assessment was not adequate in that, employees required to wash carts with a sodium hydroxide solution were not provided a chemical resistant apron.

29 CFR 1910.133(a)(1): The employer shall ensure that each affected employee uses appropriate eye or face protection when exposed to eye or face hazards from flying particles, molten metal, liquid chemicals, acids or caustic liquids, chemical gases or vapors, or potentially injurious light radiation.    a. On or about January 23, 2012, in the Food and Nutrition area, the employer did not ensure the use of goggles when employees were required to wash carts with a sodium hydroxide solution.

29 CFR 1910.151(c):     Where the eyes or body of any person may be exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body shall be provided within the work area for immediate emergency use.[63 FR 33450, June 18, 1998]    a. On or about January 23, 2012, in the cart room, an eyewash was not present for employees required to wash carts with a sodium hydroxide solution.
