29 CFR 1926.651(k)(1): Daily inspections of excavations, the adjacent areas, and protective systems were not made by a competent person for evidence of a situation that could have resulted in possible cave-ins, indications of failure of protective systems, hazardous atmospheres, or other hazardous conditions: Employees were exposed to cave in hazards while working in an excavation at the Beardstown, IL waste water treatment plant which was not inspected by a competent person before employees were allowed to enter the working area and as needed throughout the shift. LEANDER CONSTRUTION, INC. WAS PREVIOUSLY CITED FOR A VIOLATION OF THIS OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARD OR ITS EQUIVALENT STANDARD 29 CFR 1910.651(K)(1) WHICH WAS CONTAINED IN OSHA INSPECTION NUMBER 314849027, CITATION NUMBER 1, ITEM NUMBER 1(a), AND WAS AFFIRMED AS A FINAL ORDER ON MARCH 8, 2011, WITH RESPECT TO A WORKPLACE LOCATED AT UNIVERSITY ST.
