(b) On or about January 2012, in the boat repair shop, for an employee pouring acetone from the metal quart size can into a plastic squeeze bottle.     (c) On or about March 2, 2012, in the boat repair shop, for an employee pouring acetone into a plastic open topped container that was cut off at the top to soak gun parts in after spraying.    ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED FOR THIS ITEM.

29 CFR 1910.107(m)(1): Spraying operations involving the use of organic peroxides and other dual component coatings were not conducted in approved sprinklered spray booths meeting the requirements of this section:    (a) On or about March 2, 2012, in the boat repair shop, for a technican spraying gelcoat containing Luperox DDM-9, an organic peroxide to repair the exterior of 26 foot fiberglass boat     ABATEMENT NOTE: This hazard can be abated by conducting future spraying work using organic peroxides in an approved sprinklered spray booth meeting the requirements of 1910.107 or a sprinklered spray area meeting the requirements of NFPA 33-2007. Further information on this policy can be found by referring to the osha website www.osha.gov and searching for the interpretation letter on this subject dated July 14, 2009.

29 CFR 1910.134(c)(1): A written respiratory protection program that included the provisions in 29 CFR 1910.134(c)(1)(i) - (ix) with worksite specific procedures was not established and implemented for required respirator use:    (a)  On or about March 2, 2012, in the boat repair facility, for a technician using a Gerson disposable negative pressure half face respirator with organic vapor cartridges and a prefilter while spraying gelcoat onto a fiberglass boat being repaired. The employer did not develop a written respirator program.  The worker was not medically evaluated, fit tested or trained on the use of this respirator.    ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED FOR THIS ITEM.
