29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: Employees were exposed to cuts, lacerations, amputations while performing cleaning and color change operations on production lines number 7, 8, and 9. The employer failed to put in place guards and establish procedures that would limit access to the mixer blades. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
