29 CFR 1910.1001(j)(2)(i): Employers and building and facility owners did not exercise due diligence in complying with these requirements to inform employers and employees about the presence and location of asbestos containing material (ACM) and presumed asbestos containing (PACM):      a) 2276 12th Ave., New York, NY - Columbia University did not inform the employer of employees of the presence  and location of ACM or PACM in the basement. Contractors cleaned the area to include dry sweeping, dusting and vacuuming debris without using a HEPA filter.  Laboratory analysis of loose debris found in the basement yielded up to 50% chrysotile asbestos. The condition was noted on or about 02/23/2012.      NOTE: THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT  CERTIFICATION FOR THIS ITEM, FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1,000.00 AS PER 29 CFR 1903.19.
