29 CFR 1910.106(e)(6)(i): Adequate precautions were not taken to prevent the ignition of flammable vapors. Sources of ignition include but are not limited to open flames; lighting; smoking; cutting and welding; hot surfaces; frictional heat; static, electrical and mechanical sparks; spontaneous ignition, including heat-producing chemical reactions; and radiant heat. The employer does not ensure that adequate precautions are taken to prevent the ignition of flammable vapors. a) This violation occurred on or about March 26, 2012, in the stock room where an employee was exposed to a fire hazard when transferring flammable liquids from one container to another by using a Carquest battery to power a Fill-Rite pump. b) This violation occurred on or about March 26, 2012, in the stock room where an employee was exposed to a fire hazard when transferring flammable liquids from one container to another by using an Interstate battery to power a VP pump.
