29 CFR 1926.1101(g)(5) Class I asbestos work was not performed using one or more of the control methods pursuant to the limitations stated in paragraphs (i) through (vi) of this section: (a) The Beck Group at 400 Rood Ave. in Grand Junction, CO: On March 20, 2012 Class I asbestos work was performed without using a specified control method. An employee removed two sections of insultated pipe from a pipe chase on the second floor of the Wayne Aspinall Federal Building. This condition exposed the employee who did the removal, and other workers in the area, to an asbestos hazard. Abatement Note: Abatement certification is required for this item (see enclosed "Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet").

29 CFR 19126.1101(k)(4) When the employer discovered ACM and/or PACM on a worksite, information concerning the presence, location and quantity of such newly discovered ACM and/or PACM was not conveyed to the owner and to other employers of employees working at the work site, within 24 hours of the discovery: (a) The Beck Group at 400 Rood Ave. in Grand Junction, CO: On March 20, 2012 the employer discovered PACM on the worksite and did not convey information concerning the presence, location, and quantity of the newly discovered PACM to GSA and other employers working at the site within 24 hours of the discovery. This condition exposed employees and subcontractors to an asbestos hazard. Where feasible, installed asbestos products shall contain a visible label. (a) The Beck Group at 400 Rood Ave. in Grand Junction, CO: On and before March 28, 2012 labels were not affixed to all products containing asbestos and to all containers containing such products in that two pipes that were discovered on March 20, 2012 and subsequently removed and stored in a different room on March 21, 2012, were not labeled. This condition exposed employees to an asbestos hazard. Abatement Note: Where feasible, installed asbestos products shall contain a visible label. 29 CFR 1926.1101(k)(9)(i) The employer did not train each employee who was likely to be exposed in excess of a PEL, and each employee who performed Class I through IV asbestos operations, in accordance with the requirements of this section. (a) The Beck Group at 400 Rood Ave. in Grand Junction, CO: On and before March 28, 2012 the employer did not train each employee who performed Class I through IV asbestos operations. On March 20 and 21 a Foreman and two laborers conducted tasks with potential exposure to asbestos including demolition, removal of insulated pipes, and sweeping and vacuuming of debris. This condition exposed employees to an asbestos hazard. Abatement Note: Such training shall be conducted at no cost to the employee. The employer shall institute a training program and ensure employee participation in the program. Abatement Note: Abatement certification is required for this item (see enclosed "Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet").
