29 CFR 1910.212(a)(3)(ii): Point(s) of operation of machinery were not guarded to prevent employee(s) from having any part of their body in the danger zone(s) during operating cycle(s): Jobsite located at 13010 F Plaza, Omaha, NE: The employer failed to ensure that the point of operation on a Craftsman Drill Press and a Bickford Drill Press were guarded to prevent employees from having any part of their body in the danger zone. Although this equipment is actually owned and maintained by a sister company, the employees of Ribbon Weld utilize the equipment and are exposed to the hazard. Abatement certification is required for this violation. The abatement certification sheet is enclosed with the citations.

29 CFR 1910.243(c)(1): Abrasive wheel(s) were used on portable grinder(s) which were not provided with safety guard(s) meeting the requirements specified in 29 CFR 1910.243(c)(1) through (c)(4): Jobsite located at 13010 F Plaza, Omaha, NE: The employer failed to ensure that portable grinding equipment was used with guards installed while being utilized. On February 24,2012, an employee of Ribbon Weld was injured when a cut-off wheel, improperly installed on a portable grinder, failed and there was not a guard in place to protect the employee. Abatement certification is required for this violation. The abatement certification sheet is enclosed with the citations.
