29 CFR 1910.303(b)(2):     Installation and use. Listed or labeled equipment shall be installed and used in accordance with any instructions included in the listing or labeling.    a.  At Meijer, located at 5050 North Hamilton Road, Columbus, Ohio, there were three surge protectors that were used in part to supply 110 volt electrical power to outdoor garden fountains and bird baths.  These surge protectors were located in the outdoor garden center in a wet/damp environment, which was not part its listing and labeling, thereby exposing the employees to electrical shock and/or fire hazards.

29 CFR 1910.305(j)(1)(i):     Fixtures, lampholders, lamps, rosettes, and receptacles may have no live parts normally exposed to employee contact. However, rosettes and cleat-type lampholders and receptacles located at least 2.44 m (8.0 ft) above the floor may have exposed terminals.    a.  At Meijer, located at 5050 North Hamilton Road, there was a 20 amperage 125/250 volt twist-lock plug-in receptacle, which was located in the garden center behind the cashier's desk that did not have a cover over its live parts, thereby exposing the employees to electrical shock and/or fire hazards.

29 CFR 1910.305(e)(1):     Cabinets, cutout boxes, fittings, boxes, and panelboard enclosures. Cabinets, cutout boxes, fittings, boxes, and panelboard enclosures in damp or wet locations shall be installed so as to prevent moisture or water from entering and accumulating within the enclosures and shall be mounted so there is at least 6.35-mm (0.25-in.) airspace between the enclosure and the wall or other supporting surface. However, nonmetallic enclosures may be installed without the airspace on a concrete, masonry, tile, or similar surface. The enclosures shall be weatherproof in wet locations.    a.  At Meijer, located at 5050 North Hamilton Road Columbus, Ohio, there was an outdoor 125 volt 20 amperage receptacle box that was mounted on a support column within the garden center.  The receptacle box had been broken off of the support column, leaving a 2" hole in the back of this box.  In its condition, the receptacle box was no longer waterproof for wet locations and exposed employees to its live parts, thereby increasing the risk of electrical shock and/or fire hazard to employees.

29 CFR 1910.305(g)(2)(ii):     Flexible cords may be used only in continuous lengths without splice or tap. Hard-service cord and junior hard-service cord No. 14 and larger may be repaired if spliced so that the splice retains the insulation, outer sheath properties, and usage characteristics of the cord being spliced.    a.  At Meijer, there were two flexible cords used in continuous length to supply 110 volt electrical power to a National Cash Register (NCR) located within the garden center, thereby exposing the employees to electrical shock and/or fire hazards.      b. At Meijer, there were two flexible cords used in continuous length to supply 110 volt electrical power to outdoor garden fountains within the garden center, thereby exposing the employees to electrical shock and/or fire hazards.       c.  At Meijer, there were two flexible cords used in continuous length to supply 110 volt electrical power to bird baths within the garden center, thereby exposing the employees to electrical shock and/or fire hazards.
