29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: The employer does not protect employees from the hazards associated with unguarded machines. a. This violation was observed on or about April 18, 2012, located at the work site at 21606 Stonebridge Drive, Houston, TX, where employees were exposed to the hazards of caught between and caught-in while operating a pneumatic press without point of operation guarding. b. This violation was observed on or about April 18, 2012, located at the work site at 21606 Stonebridge Drive, Houston, TX, where employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck-by the arm of a pneumatic press. Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the date of this citation, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps that it is taking to: a. ensure that employees are protected from the hazards of the point of operation of machinery. b. ensure that employees are protected from being struck-by the arm of the pneumatic press.
