29 CFR 1910.22(c): Covers and/or guardrails were not provided to protect personnel from the hazards of open pits, tanks, vats, ditches, etc. Employees hang material on a conveyor and are standing approximately 2 inches from an open pit. Employees occasionally reach over the pit to hang material on the paint line. Employees are exposed to a fall hazard of approximately 4 feet 11 inches. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
