OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: Employees working in the shop areas were exposed to fire and explosion hazards in that Delta portable dust collectors were located inside the building and were not protected with deflagration or suppression protection for the following locations: a) Delta portable dust collector located in the front shop area next to the Delta drill press. b) Delta portable dust collector located in the back shop area by the DeWalt radial saw, unknown model #. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to move the dust collectors outside or equip the dust collectors with explosion prevention, suppression or venting systems as referenced in NFPA 664, Prevention of Fires and Explosions in Wood Processing and Woodworking Facilities, paragraph 8.2.2.5.1.4, 2007 edition.
