Dixie Hwy Lima, OH: The employer did not ensure employees were protected from falls while removing old roofing material from a steep sloped roof on commercial structure. Employees were exposed to falls of approximately 10ft to the ground below.

29 CFR 1926.701(b): Reinforcing steel. All protruding reinforcing steel, onto and into which employees could fall, was not guarded to eliminate the hazard of impalement. (a) Kuhlman Builders, Inc. on or about May 08, 2012, at the address of 1787 N. Dixie Hwy Lima, OH: The employer failed to ensure employees were protected from unguarded reinforcing steel, protruding from a masonry wall under construction below. Two employees performing roofing work were exposed to impalement hazards while working approximately 8ft above the protruding rebar underneath the west eave.
