A) At the Northlake Shipyard, aboard the vessel Bluefin, employees were wearing respirators while painting with materials that had volotile organic compounds in them, and were wearing P100 dust particulate filters, in lieu of organic vapor cartridges.

29 CFR 1910.134(g)(1)(i)(A): Respirators with tight-fitting facepieces were worn by employees who had facial hair that came between the sealing surface. A) At the Northlake Shipyard, on the vessel the bluefin, employees were painting while wearing respirators, and some employees had facial hair at the point where the mask made a seal with the face.

29 CFR 1910.134(h)(2)(i): Respirators were not stored to protect them from damage, contamination, dust, sunlight, extreme temperatures, excessive moisture, and damaging chemicals or were not packed or stored to prevent deformation of the facepiece and exhalation valve: A) At the Northlake shipyard, on the vessel Bluefin, employees left respirators out in the area that was being painted without any protection.
