29 CFR 1910.242(b): Compressed air used for cleaning. Compressed air was used for cleaning purposes except where reduced to less than 30 p.s.i. and then only with effective chip guarding and personal protective equipment. a) In the Shop on May 11, 2012, and at times prior thereto, the pressure of the compressed air at the tip of the cleaning nozzle was 55 pounds per square inch. Note: Abatement certification is not required. The U.S. Forest Service in Idaho was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard from OSHA inspection number 311573836, citation number 2, item number 15 for a workplace located at Salmon Idaho at the Salmon-Chalis NF, Salmon-Cobalt RD, This citation was affirmed as a final order on October 03, 2008. This item was certified as abated on October 17, 2008.
