29 CFR 1910.212(a)(2): Guard(s) on machine(s) were not affixed to the machine or secured elsewhere when attachment to the machine was not possible:      The employer failed to secure the guards on the following machines:    1-Laser:  -Mazak Laser Cutting Machine #1115. The front/top guard was not affixed to prevent employee access while in operation. Employees access this area to inspect parts for quality purposes, to clean and to monitor cutting operation.    2-Screw Machines:  -Machine No. 286 The employer failed to affix the right side, exit chute and spindle access guards.   -Machine No. 707 The employer failed to affix spindle access guard.  -Machine No. 710 The employer failed to affix spindle access guard.  -Machine No. 777 The employer failed to affix spindle access guard.  -Machine No. 810 The employer failed to affix spindle access guard.  -Machine No. 832 New Britain. The employer failed to affix spindle access guard.  -Machine No. 922 New Britain. The employer failed to affix spindle access guard.  -Machine No. 926 New Britain. Machines 286, 978 and 979 had a side guard that was not secured. The side was covered by what appeared to be cardboard and a plastic curtain. This guard should have been of the same structure and composition as the rest of the machine metal frame. This would not prevent an employee from accessing the rotating parts if an employee needed to without opening the front sliding door which as interlocked.       Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
