29 CFR 1910.151(c): Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use: On or about 05/14/12 at 233 U.S. Highway 49, Byron, GA: Employees were exposed to eye injury while cleaning the store's smoker with a severely corrosive product identified as Smokehouse Cleaner (Sunburst Chemicals). The cleaner is used to clean the grocery store's smoker, which is located in the deli area. The employer failed to provide suitable facilities for quick drenching and flushing of eyes for employees cleaning the smoker.

29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): Employees were not provided effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment and whenever a new hazard that the employees had not been previously trained about was introduced into their work area: On or about 05/14/12 at 233 U.S. Highway 49, Byron, GA: The employer failed to ensure that all employees using Smokehouse Cleaner, which contains potassium hydroxide, and is corrosive had been provided information and training on the hazardous chemicals in their work area.
