29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1):     Each employee on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge which was 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems.    127 24th St., Bayonne, NJ:Employees engaged in siding activities without any type of fall protection were exposed to falls of approximately 15 feet to the ground below.         Violation observed on or about 5/12/12.

29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1):     Where (a) portable ladder(s) was/were used for access to an upper level landing surface and the ladders length did not allow the ladder side rails to extend at least 3 feet (0.9 m) above the upper landing surface being accessed, the ladder was not secured at its top to a rigied support that will not deflect, and/or a grasping device was not provided to assist emmployees in mounting and dismounting the ladder.    127 24th St., Bayonne, NJ:Employee's engaged in siding activities were provided with a portable ladder that was not extended 3 feet above the roof edge for safe access.         Violation observed on or about 5/12/12.
