29 CFR 1910.1025(d)(2): An initial determination was not made to determine if any employee may be exposed to lead at or above the action level: (a) On or about the month of April 2012, mechanics engaged in metal scraping in the shop used red lead in conjunction with high spot blue to perform surface grinds on metal parts. Hand-held grinders were used, exposing employees to unknown airborne concentrations of lead. The employer has never conducted air sampling or evaluated the lead exposure to employees in any way. Abatement certification is required of this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(c).

29 CFR 1910.1025(l)(1)(i): Employee(s) working in an area where there is potential exposure to airborne lead at any level were not informed of the content of Appendices A and B of 29 CFR 1910.1025: (a) The red lead is used in conjunction with high spot blue to see high spots on metal parts to perform precision grinding and produce a level surface. Grinders are used, creating unknown airborne concentrations of lead, which have not been assessed by the employer. The employer has not trained employees on the hazards of red lead and has not provided them with the appendices from the lead standard. Abatement certification is required of this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(c).
