29 CFR 1910.184(d): Each day before being used, the sling and all fastenings and attachments were not being inspected for damage or defects by a competent person designated by the employer: a) Shop area - On or about June 15, 2012, employees were using damaged slings several times a week for the purpose of lifting materials in excess of 2,000 pounds that had not been inspected for damage or defects by a competent person.
