29 CFR 1910.120(e)(1)(ii): Employees were permitted to participate in or supervise field activities prior to being trained to a level required by their job function and responsibility: Tenneco Automotive Operating Company, Inc. - On or about June 7, 2012, employees assigned by management to assist in the cleaning a chromium VI spill on the roof of the facility. Three of the employees had not received required training in hazardous waste operations.

29 CFR 1910.1026(l)(1): The employer did not ensure that all employees who were assigned to workplaces where there was exposure to chromium (VI) were provided with information and training as required by the Hazard Communication standard, 29 CFR 1910.1200, and the information in this section (1910.1026): Tenneco Automotive Operating Company, Inc. - on or about June 7, 2012, employees were assigned to assist in responding to a chromium VI spill. The employees had not been trained on the hazards associated with chromium VI.

29 CFR 1910.1026(h)(1): Where hazards were present or were likely to be present from skin or eye contact with chromium (VI), the employer did not provide appropriate personal protective clothing and equipment at no cost to employees, and did not ensure that employees used such clothing and equipment Tenneco Automotive Operating Company, Inc. - on or about June 7, 2012, employees were assigned to assist with clean-up of a chromium VI spill on the roof of the facility. Employees were not provided with protective clothing or eyewear. Only protective gloves were available. One employee sustained a chemical burn on his leg resulting from exposure to chromium VI. REPEAT VIOLATION Section 17(a) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 and 29 CFR 1910.37(a)(3). Tenneco Automotive Operating Company, Inc. WAS PREVIOUSLY CITED FOR A VIOLATION OF THIS OSHA STANDARD WHICH WAS CONTAINED IN OSHA INSPECTION #314209248 CITATION #1 ITEM #17A, ISUUED ON 10/12/2011, WITH RESPECT TO A WORKPLACE LOCATED AT 200 McINTYRE DRIVE, HARTWELL, GA. THIS CITATION BECAME A FINAL ORDER ON 11/3/2011.
