Each employee engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system unless another provision in paragraph (b) of this section provides for an alternative fall protection measure. a. On or about June 19, 2012, on a 4:12 pitch roof, 2 employees performing roofing operations were not protected from an 8.3 feet fall hazard by use of a guardrail system, safety net system, personal fall arrest system or any fall protection.
