This violation was observed on or about June 18, 2012, on the west end of the scaffolding where employees were exposed to falling hand tools, buckets, and concrete block while working on and around the scaffold without wearing a hardhat.      Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the abatement date, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps that it is taking to ensure that employees are provided protective helmets to guard against head injuries caused from falling or flying objects.

Crossbraces were used as a means of access.    The employer does not ensure when scaffold platforms are more that 2 feet above or below a point of access a ladder or other means of access is used.  This violation was observed on or about June 18, 2012, on the upper west end section of the scaffolding where employees were exposed to a fall hazard where a ladder was not provided and crossbracing was used to access the scaffold.    Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the abatement date, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps that it is taking to ensure that ladders or other means are provided to safely access the scaffold.
