29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface (horizontal and vertical surface) with an unprotected side or edge which is 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not be protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems: (a) On the east side of the deck next to the Guano Point kitchen and restroom building on or about July 11, 2012, there was no fall protection for employees that used saws and jack hammers to break up the concrete on the deck. The permanent guardrails were cut off the east side of the deck on July 9, 2012. The west side of the deck was adjacent to the building. The deck was 10 feet wide and 24 feet long on the east side of the building. It was 9 feet, 2 inches from the deck to the ground.
