29 CFR 1910.1001(j)(7)(iv): The employer did not provide, at no cost to employee(s) who perform housekeeping operations in an area that contains ACM or PACM, an asbestos awareness training course, which shall at a minimum contain the following elements health effects of asbestos, locations of ACM and PACM in the building/facility, recognition of ACM and PACM damage and deterioration, requirements in this standard relating to housekeeping, and proper response to fiber release episodes, to all employee(s) who perform housekeeping work in areas where ACM and/or PACM was present, at least annually for each employee: a. On or about July 12, 2012, in the basement(s) of building 5543 - 5559 S. Kimbark Ave. , Chicago, IL, building engineers / janitors were required to perform activities in areas which contained asbestos containing materials, analyzed to contain 18 - 20% chrysotile asbestos. The employees were not provided with asbestos awareness training, thereby, exposing employees to the hazards associated with asbestos. The training shall contain the following elements: 1. Health effects of asbestos. 2. Locations of ACM and PACM in the building(s) / facility. 3. Recognition of ACM and PACM damage and deterioration. 4. Requirements of the standard relating to housekeeping. 5. Proper response to fiber release episodes.
