29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): "Unprotected sides and edges." Each employee on a walking/working surface (horizontal and vertical surface) with an unprotected side or edge which is 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. Worksite, North - Employees engaged in roof construction of a commercial building were observed working on a roof approximately 8 feet above the ground. Personal fall arrest systems, guardrails or safety nets were not provided on, or about, 07/13/12. Note: In addition to abatement certification, the employer is required to submit abatement documentation for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19.

Employees were using an A frame ladder, in a folded position, to access the roof on, or about, 07/13/12. Note: The employer is required to submit abatement certification for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19.
