29 CFR 1910.138(a):     Employer did not select and require employees to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasions; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes:     a)    On the production floor when handling materials: On or about 7/17/2012 and at times prior thereto, employees were not required to use gloves when exposed to cuts or lacerations when handling sheet metal, and other formed or stamped parts. 29 CFR 1910.138(b):    The employer did not base the selection of the appropriate hand protection on an evaluation of the performance characteristics of the hand protection relative to the task(s) to be performed, conditions present, duration of use, and the hazards and potential hazards identified:     a)     On the production floor at various operations: On or about 7/17/2012, and at times prior thereto, the employer gave employees an "option" to wear gloves such as latex, cotton or light weight leather gloves rather than requiring the use of gloves that were appropriate for the task.     Note: Abatement certification is required.

When normally enclosed live parts were exposed for inspection or servicing, the working space, if in a passageway or general open space, was not suitably guarded.    a) The distribution panel in the middle of the shop: On or about 7/17/2012, and at times prior thereto, the area in front of the circuit breaker panel box was obstructed by scrap metal, empty cardboard boxes and lumber.
