29 CFR 1926.651(i)(1): Where the stability of adjoining buildings, walls, or other structures was endangered by excavation operations, support systems such as shoring, bracing or underpinning was not provided to ensure the stability of such structures for the protection of employees. The North East side of the cotton gin, on July 19, 2012, employees were in an 18 foot deep excavation below a structure attached to the cotton gin without protective systems or support systems, exposing employees to struck-by and caught-in-between hazards.
