OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing for likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hooks for overhead hoists that were designed for but not equipped with hook safety latches and hooks with improperly fitted safety latches: a) Ameridrives International, LLC / 1802 Pittsburgh Ave, Erie, PA: On or about July 19, 2012 a hook on a Lynx ? ton hoist located in the Daewoo Machine in the South Bay Drill area had the wrong latch. Hook was a G style hook equipped with an F style latch. Condition potentially exposed personnel to a struck-by hazard from accidental load disengagement. b) Ameridrives International, LLC / 1802 Pittsburgh Ave, Erie, PA: On or about July 19, 2012 a hook on a ? ton jib hoist at the Press Area did not have a latch. The hook was designed to be used with a safety latch. Condition potentially exposed personnel to a struck-by hazard from accidental load disengagement.
