OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees:    a) On or about July 24, 2012, employees were exposed to fall hazards in excess of 10 feet when climbing on and over the guardrails of the Genie scissor lift to access the work area.       Among other methods, feasible and acceptable means to correct these hazards would be to follow the manufacturer's guidelines when entering or exiting the lift.     Abatement Note: Abatement certification is required for this item (see enclosed "Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet").

29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge which was 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems:    a) On or about July 24, 2012, employees were exposed to fall hazards in excess of 10 feet while working on top of a raised work area with unprotected sides with no fall protection in place.       Abatement Note: Abatement certification and documentation are required for this item (see enclosed "Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet").
